Hoonah Indian Association and National Parks Service coordinated to bring students and community members back to the homeland.
Details
In August 2025, Hoonah Indian Association, in partnership with National Parks Service, invited students and commuinty members to travel back to the ancestral lands of the indigenous peoples of Hoonah, forced out by the advancing glacier. On this trip, many cultural stories and stories were shared and practiced. Several students helped with photo and video documentation and some of their media is shared and included here.
