Mark Browning has been working with his students to discover and understand the importance of the devil's club in Southeast Alaska. Students are able to interact with a vital resources and traditional material to better understand science, culture, and even economics and business through multi-disciplinary study. Students learn how climate affects these plants, how traditional local cultures utilized them, and are planning on making wearable art to sell to tourists, all while helping inform visiting guests about the importance of these plants and why we should strive to ensure the forest's future.
Note: Some high school students joined to help take photos of this event and partnered with Bradford Jackson Films to support documentation.
